Simply put, the GenExchange TM is a genealogical data exchange where visitors and researchers alike can go to find specific persons, and exchange specific data with one another. The GenExchange TM is the oldest of the now popular data-based genealogy web sites, forging new territory and show casing emerging technologies in 1996 to become the second largest non-commercial genealogy project on the internet today.
With the goal of ensuring the permanent free use of genealogical data online, the Genealogy Exchange & Surname Registry TM is a community effort where visitors and project volunteers can contribute data for the free use of others. For more information, please read About the GenExchange TM .
The GenExchange tm is all about databases. In fact the GenExchange TM was the very first web site of its kind, offering direct access to raw genealogical data, in completely searchable form from databases. It's through the hard work and patience of the hundreds of volunteers and project members, as well as the countless visitors who have submitted the data that this project is possible. It is also a testament to the fact that the grand experiment started three years ago was, and continues to be, a success.
