GenExchange Surname Discussion Forum is Unveiled - 2000-02-04
(VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - 4/2/2000) This evening the GenExchange has unveiled its new Surname Discussion Forum, a unique threaded discussion application, and research tool for on-line genealogists. The Genealogy Exchange & Surname Registry (GenExchange) is the Internet's first, and oldest data-based genealogy project, pioneering the use of databases and dynamic web-page content for use by on-line genealogists. The GenExchange is committed to furthering our goals of ensuring permanent free access to genealogical data on-line, and to helping bring people every where, closer to their ancestors though cooperative sharing of data. Project members and volunteers work diligently to transcribe source records and enter the data on-line for free use by visitors and researchers. Visitors are encouraged to participate by sharing their own data with others by submitting it using the submission forms available on-line, or by becoming a project member, and adopting a county or state web site. Please visit the US GenExcange at http://genexchange.org/us.cfm for more information regarding state and county web sites available at the GenExchange. The new Surname Discussion Forum, located at http://genexchange.org/forums/ is just the latest example of the cutting edge technology we are leveraging for you in the name of keeping genealogy free on-line. Use the Surname Discussion Forum to post queries regarding people, places, or events, as well as reply to others. Users may select any of the existing Surname Boards (Forums), or add new Surname Forums and start new Surname Discussions, easily and quickly. Use the search function to quickly search through past posts, or simply browse through current posts by selecting the New Messages function. Users may also select to view a user defined number of days posts by default through the options menu. To read more about the GenExchange, please visit http://genexchange.org/volunteers.cfm.
