GenExchange Announces it's New Virtual Voting Booth - 2000-03-22
(VIRGINIA BEACH, VA) The GenExchange (http://genexchange.org) has completed development of it's Virtual Voting Booth (http://genexchange.org/index.cfm#poll) and is inaugurating it's completion with our very first poll. The Poll, which will run from March 21 through April 30, asks "Should the GenExchange develop a Gedcom Collection project and collect Gedcom data for online viewing and searching?". The GenExchange, one of the largest online genealogical projects, is all about people helping people and ensuring permanent free access to genealogical data online. In developing this new virtual voting booth the GenExchange seeks the advice of the very people who frequent it day after day. A Gedcom Collection project would be integrated into the already existing USGenExchange (http://genexchange.org/us.cfm) State and County web sites, adding a link on each site to the GedCom data that would then be indexed and searchable along pedigree lines, as well as browsable in the same manner as our other databases. The Virtual Voting Booth is yet another tool the GenExchange is bringing to online genealogists and will be available to all GenExchange Partners, as well as other online genealogy sites for informal polls or elections.
