A number of Kings County residents have joined together to form the Lower Kings River Historical Society as a non-profit corporation with the following mission: To promote and enable the preservation, resoration and appreciation of historic resources in Kings County primarily in and around Lemoore, Armona, the Island District, Stratford and Santa Rosa Rancheria. These resources will include real property, buildings, records, books and photographs of historical significance. The society has as its first concern remedying the disrepair into which the Rhoads and Taylor cemeteries have fallen. It hopes to galvanize local support to establish procedures and raise funds to rehabilitate those two historical sites before they are lost to future generations. Additional concerns include the preservation of the Adobe de los Robles (also known as Rhodes' Adobe) located at Lacy and Highway 41.
